So, You’re Thinking About Working a Wellness Coach?!

I get it!

It can be a hard decision to make an investment in coaching, especially if you’ve never worked with a coach before.

What’s the coach going to do? What am I going to do? How much does it cost? How does it all work?

These are all great questions. The goal of a discovery call is for you to get all your questions answered and see if we have a good vibe. Then, it will be easier for you to decide if you want to move forward working with me as your coach.

2 Types of Coaching Programs: Guided and Self-Directed

Guided Coaching Program: In a guided coaching program, I’ll have pre-prepared curriculum, ideas, and exercises around a theme, but you always have a the final say about what you would like to do.

As an example, my signature program “Upping Your Optimism Game” is a guided program all around the theme of optimism. It features 3 games (challenges) in the areas of gratitude, self-appreciation, and appreciation of others. So if you wanted to work with me on developing optimism and a positive mindset, this guided program would be a good choice.

Self-Directed Coaching Program: In a self-directed coaching program, you decide which goals and dimensions of wellness that you want to work on with me.

Do you want to exercise more, eat better, sleep better, connect more with family and friends, pursue a hobby or passion, re-connect with a hobby or passion, meditate, deal with stress at work, create better work life balance, or all of the above… but feel stuck, confused, unmotivated, overwhelmed, or unsure how to make it happen?

If you have a whole list of goals and challenges, then, a self-directed coaching program is a better choice.

All coaching programs begin with some form of assessment, getting to know you, and establishing your vision for our time together. Once your vision is set, we’ll work together to turn it into a reality.

Btw, a discovery call is the perfect place to discuss your vision and goals with me, so that I can tell you how I think I can help or if I think you have better options that wellness coaching.

Yep, you heard me right, I’m not going to pressure you into believing that hiring me as your coach is the only way to reach your goals.

As an example, I’ve often recommended reading a book, hiring a personal trainer, paying to join a fitness group, joining a CSA or meal prep, buying a piece of home exercise equipment, getting a workout partner, seeking out a trained mental health professional, etc…

Sometimes, depending on where you’re at, other solutions make more sense than coaching.

Do I need a Coach or Can I just do it on my Own?

You can absolutely do great things on your own!

I tend to think of wellness coaching similarly to personal training or physical therapy.

You can walk, run, hike, bike, or do push ups, sit ups, rehab exercises, and stretching all on your own, but sometimes having the structure of a professional relationship makes a big difference.

I tend to think Coaching is like Personal Training for your Mindset.

Just like you might go see a personal trainer once a week to work your physical body, you might work with a coach once a week to stretch, exercise, and focus your mindset towards creating the life you envision.

Reasons You Might Work With a Coach

Some of the main reasons you might work with a coach are Motivation, Focus, Structure, Partnership, or Support.

Motivation: In my coaching practice my conversations often use principles from Motivational Interviewing (MI) and motivation is the top reason people seek out a coach.

There’s a lot that can be said about motivation, but a quick thought for you is that… “Motivation is an emotion and emotions change all the time based on context and situation.” One of the ways I try to support motivation is by helping you to identify the situations in which you tend to feel more motivated while also getting clarity about situations in which you don’t feel as motivation.

When you are more aware of the conditions that lead to your success, you can strategize more effectively and make a better plan to move forward.

Focus/Structure: If you have lots of ambitions and health goals but aren’t sure where to start or how to get everything in place, then you might work with a coach to help prioritize, focus, and strategize to come up with a plan to make it all happen.

Areas of focus: people have worked with me to improve overall well-being, lose weight, develop fitness routines, get motivated to exercise, boost positivity and optimism, reduce stress, improve sleep, begin meditating, improve their nutrition, and any health goal you can imagine. I use the 8 Dimensions of Wellness as a holistic wellness framework, and you can choose to focus on any wellness goal in any dimension.

Partnership/Support: As mentioned earlier, you can totally coach yourself and accomplish great things on your own. But if you’re struggling on your own or would prefer to have a partner and guide, then you might work with a coach for that extra support and comradery.

If you’re looking for some combination of Motivation, Focus, and Support or you want to learn something and work towards a specific health and wellness goal, let’s chat about how I can help as your coach.

Options for Working Together

There are 3 ways that we can work together if you want to reach a specific goal or learn more about a wellness topic.

1) 1:1 Wellness Coaching

2) Jump Start Online Wellness Coaching Programs, and

3) 90 Day Intensive Group Coaching Programs.

1) 1:1 Wellness Coaching

I tend to work with a limited number of 1:1 clients at a given time, and conduct my 1:1 coaching in 6wk, 12wk (3 month), and 24 wk (6 month) coaching programs.

We can discuss your goals, ideas, and needs in a discovery call. And then you can choose a Guided Coaching Journey or a Self-Directed Coaching Journey.

In addition to 1:1 coaching, I also offer Group Online Coaching Programs. The best way to be informed about upcoming group programs is by signing up for my wellness coaching newsletter.

2) Jump Start Group Coaching

My Group Coaching Programs are structured around a theme in which a community of like minded people strive together to improve well being.

Jump starts are 2-6 week coaching journeys that set the table for an optional 90 day group coaching program.

There is magic in community! And often, our best learning and growth comes when we can interact, practice, and get feedback. For this reason, I tend to recommend a Jump start as the first coaching interaction.

Pricing: Jump starts range from $97-$297 depending on the length of the program.

3) 90 Day Intensive Group Coaching

If you love the experience from your Jump Start, you can choose to continue in a more intensive 90 Day Coaching Program of the same theme.

Pricing: 90 Day Group Intensives range from $997-$2997
