If you’re on this page then you likely already know that as a Health and Wellness coach I think Optimism is a key to helping you to increase your well being and give you the energy and motivation to pursue your health and wellness goals.

So I created a coaching program called Upping Your Optimism Game to help guide people to cultivate more positivity.

After working with thousands of people who were trying to improve their health and well being, I noticed a pattern.

When people feel overly negative and pessimistic, they don’t have the motivation or energy to pursue their health goals.

Optimism is the Key that can Unlock Your Motivation and Boost Well Being!

In a Nutshell…

Optimism Coaching is like Personal Training for your Mindset.

Just like you might work with a personal trainer to guide you in physical exercises, you may choose to work with a wellness coach as a guide to help you develop mental muscles.

The program is based on 3 pillars. Optimism towards…

  • Life
  • Self
  • Relationships

During Upping Your Optimism Game, you’ll focus on developing your mental skills and habits through a gratitude challenge, self-appreciation challenge, and appreciation of others challenge.

The tools/exercises that you’ll use will be some combination of writing/journaling, thinking/ meditating, conversation/mantras, and conscious doing.

I will support you with a guide book, up to 2 weekly coaching conversations and lessons, and email messages.

Who this is For

If you believe in the importance of optimism and positivity, but would like some motivation, structure, and support to practice improving your mindset, this program is for you.

It doesn’t matter where you on the optimism spectrum, I think I can help you grow.

Whether you’re feeling like the pandemic or other life circumstances have you looking at the world through negatively colored glasses, or you’re a pretty happy person who wants to think and live even more optimistically, the Upping Your Optimism Game Coaching Program can help you along your wellness journey.

What is Optimism, Anyway?

Optimism is a Mindset!

And Mindsets affect your health in 2 Primary ways: Physically and Behaviorally

How we think about things has a direct physical and physiologic affect on what happens in our bodies, and how we think about things affects what we do and how we walk through life.

Just by itself, cultivating an optimistic mindset can improve your health and longevity. One Yale study found that if people in their middle age had a positive and optimistic view of aging, they lived on average 7.6 years longer than people who had a negative and pessimistic view on aging.

Optimism is a double edge positivity sword. It increases the likelihood that you engage in positive health promoting behaviors like (exercise) and it decreases the likelihood that you engage in more risky health behaviors like smoking, drinking to excess, using elicit drugs, or overeating for comfort.

Optimism can be learned and enhanced.

Upping Your Optimism Game 1:1 Coaching Program Overview

To me, Coaching is like Personal Training for your Mindset.

Mental Skills are just like Physical Skills: The more you practice, the better you become.

Just like you do arm, core, or leg exercises to build up your body with a personal trainer, you can do mental exercises with a wellness coach to build up your mental muscles and mindset.

Upping Your Optimism Game is a Guided Coaching Program designed to help increase your positivity by practicing mental skills associated with optimism.

It consists of 3 pillars.

Optimism towards…

1) Life

2) Self and

3) Relationships

Classically people think of optimism as looking at the glass as half full. In some ways optimism is just a matter of shifting our focus.

Gratitude is looking optimistically at life. What do you have versus don’t have.

Self-Appreciation is looking optimistically at ourselves. What are we doing well versus what we’re doing poorly.

Appreciation is looking for the good in others. What are others doing right versus what others are doing wrong.

3 Pillars : 3 Challenges

When working together we’ll take on each of these 3 pillars in challenge format. Beginning with a gratitude challenge, then moving to a self-appreciation challenge, and finishing with an appreciation of others challenge.

There are 3 primary tools that I will suggest you use to develop your mental skills: 1) Writing/Journaling, 2) Thinking/ Meditating 3) Talking/ Conversation, and you can use any method that resonates with you.

For example, during your gratitude challenge, you may find that journaling and writing 3 things that you’re grateful for each day helps to shift your mindset to look for good things in your life.

Or at times you may chose to simply be mindful in the moment, pause, and reflect on the good you’re experiencing. Lastly, you may chose to say out loud to yourself or to someone else what you’re grateful for.

We all have mental habits, so it takes some focus and practice to shift our mindset.

The good news is that these can be straight forward to practice.

Weekly Coaching Conversations

In addition to what you chose to practice on your own, we will have coaching conversations every week to talk about your insights and experiences, challenges or frustrations, goals and plans.

For many people there is magic in the coaching conversation that can’t be duplicated on your own. As your coach, I’ll do my best to listen mindfully to your story, highlight the good I see, ask evocative questions, keep you focused on your vision, strategize with you, challenge you, answer questions, and provide support and structure so that you grow into a better version of yourself.

First Session: Our first coaching conversation will likely be 60-90 minutes, so we have plenty of time get to know each other, craft your wellness vision, establish your goals for our time together, cover some introductory concepts, and set up your first challenge.

Follow Up Sessions: While in the program you can schedule up to 2 30-minute 1:1 coaching sessions each week. I typically work with clients Monday-Friday from 8am-6pm EST, so appointments would be conducted during those times.

If you choose the 6 week option, you can schedule up to 12 coaching sessions. And if you chose the 12 week option, you can schedule up to 24 coaching sessions.

Zoom or Phone: Sessions can be conducted via Zoom or Telephone, your choice.

Email Messages and Support

During your guided coaching journey, I will periodically send you email messages with relevant or inspirational stories, quotes, ideas or additional exercises or activities you might try, if you like.

Also, we may use email to connected between coaching conversations, if needed.

Jump Start Guide Book
